It’s a very special time for the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary this month and Zarraffa’s Coffee is

helping the Sanctuary celebrate this momentous occasion.

Zarraffa’s Coffee is passionate about the wellbeing of Australia's wildlife and supports the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation in its bid to help save native wildlife.

During the month of October, 2011 the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary are celebrating the 100 years – Alex Griffiths Centenary!

Born in 1911, Dr. Alexander Morris Griffiths was a flower grower and a beekeeper. He founded the Currumbin Bird Sanctuary on his family property in 1947 after he started feeding the local wild lorikeets to distract them from damaging his flowers, an initiative that grew into a major tourist attraction.

In 1976, Currumbin Bird Sanctuary became a National Trust of Queensland property. Today we know Alex’s garden as The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and the home of the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital. Now, the Sanctuary is celebrating the 100th birthday of the man who started it all!

In honour of Alex, visit Currumbin between the 10th and 31st of October for the discounted price of $19 for adults and $11 for children!*

*Discounted price applies to day admission between 10/10/2011 - 31/10/2011 only.
